Tummy Tamer Tea

Our special Tummy Tamer Herbal Blend is gentle and soothing for digestive comfort and healing.  If you ever suffer from indigestion, flatulence, bloating, nausea, or stomach discomfort, this is a great blend to have on hand.  This is one that can be used on a regular basis.  Even if you are not suffering, you can have this tea after dinner, which is our biggest meal, to aid the digestive process.    The herbs in this blend have properties which help calm intestinal spasms, soothe the tummy, calm and prevent flatulence, and aid digestion.  Also useful for an upset tummy.

Below are some of the traditional uses by herbalist’s of the herbs in this blend:

Chamomile: Chamomile contains antispasmodic properties that help relax smooth muscles, such as those in the intestines and stomach. Chamomile has been used to treat digestive conditions such as colic, gas, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, indigestion and irritable bowel syndrome,

Peppermint: The beneficial effects of peppermint tea are enjoyed by millions of people around the world. It makes a great tasting, caffeine-free pick me up that can effectively aid digestion, help relieve stomach gas and bloating and prevent flatulence.

Spearmint: Spearmint is very closely related to peppermint with regard to its active ingredients and ways in which it is used for health benefits. Medicinal uses of both mint preparations aid in digestion and to reduce flatulence.

Fennel: Fennel is highly beneficial in relieving digestive problems such as indigestion, bloating, flatulence, constipation, colic, intestinal gas, heartburn, and even irritable bowel.

Ginger: Ginger tea’s heating qualities make it useful for treating digestive imbalances, because it improves all three phases of gastrointestinal function (digestion, absorption, and elimination).

Aniseed:  Anise tea is considered a safe and effective way to naturally eliminate indigestion. It is known for soothing the stomach due to its antispasmodic properties, which relax overactive muscles. This is highly beneficial for calming the stomach as well as an overactive bowel. This can also help reduce nausea. Anise tea also helps to reduce bloating and eliminate flatulence by releasing the build-up of gases in the digestive tract. Anise tea has also been used to help stimulate appetite, and may be beneficial for those who struggle with eating because of eating disorders or medication. Anise tea is considered both safe and gentle, and has often been used to treat colic in children.
