Herring’s Laws Of Cure

Herring’s Laws Of Cure

Dr. Constantine Herring,(1800-1880) developed three (3) laws of cure. These laws were developed from observations of the healing processes of the human body and in this article serves to show you an order of events that you may expect to see from your own bodily concerns. They became known as Herring’s Laws Of Cure.

The three laws are…
From the inside-out, reverse chronological order and from top to bottom.

The First Law: States that the healing progresses from the deepest part of the body – the mental and emotional levels and the vital organs to the external extremities such as the skin.

The Second Law: States that, as healing progresses, symptoms appear and disappear in the reverse of their original chronological order of appearance. It was commonly observed that symptoms would reappear from a past affliction.

The Third Law: States that, healing progresses from the upper to the lower parts of the body, where a person is considered to be on the mend if say the pains in the neck has diminished, even if the person now has pains in his or her finger or toe joints.

Symptoms getting worse before they get better: It is common for individual symptoms to become worse after a treatment than they were before the treatment as show above. If a person is on the mend they should generally feel stronger and better in spite of aggravations and as the symptoms pass, should leave the person healthier on all levels.

Aches, pains, arthritis and many more afflictions are often stirred up after a treatment even if the complaint has not been suffered for years and also note that any health condition can get slightly worse before it gets better, but this is only during a short period of time after which things should improve gradually.

As Dr. Herring observed, the last injury is repaired first, so when you sustain an injury, your body works like the triage at the hospital and heals your recent injury first, to a point where you can live with it. It then goes back to work on the rest of the body in its own order of priority and only if the body has an excess energy will it then go back to work on the older injuries and afflictions.

Remember that for healing there are no instant quick fixes, no magic health products that are now been constantly marketed to people. It is often a combination of a number of other factors that help, such as your diet, exercise and sleeping habits, lifestyle habits, stress management, herbal medicines, etc. But the one key main thing is that you take responsibility for your own health.

One of the most important principles of natural holistic health care is that the body and mind have the ability to heal themselves. Give the body the right tool with proper nutrition and adequate rest and support it with herbal medicines. When symptoms of disease are present, it is because for some reason the person’s ability to correct the difficulty is not functioning correctly. It is the role of the herbalist to catalyse the person’s own powerful healing abilities. In holistic care, all healing is self healing and quite literally, the person’s own vital force cures them.
